This resource is an exploration where children get to think about the fact that something can be same and different at the same time depending on the attribute you pay attention to. An attribute is a characteristic or a quality in a person or a thing. For example the shape of something is an attribute, the colour or texture of something is also an attribute. In case of people long hair is an attribute, black eyes is an attribute. You could also have attributes that are not visible like intelligence or sense of humor. When children can tune into and pay attention to different attributes of objects or even things around them they are then ready to do matching, sorting, pairing and patterning.
