Phonics Rhymes (A–Z)
A complete set of original phonics rhymes designed to build foundational sound awareness in early learners. Each rhyme focuses on a single letter sound, using rhythm and repetition to support listening skills, phonemic awareness, and early literacy development.

Aligned with NEP 2020 – Foundational Literacy, this resource encourages play-based, oral-language–rich learning for children in the Foundational Stage (ages 3–8).

How to Use This Resource Effectively

These phonics rhymes are intended to support oral language and sound awareness, not formal reading instruction. Teachers are encouraged to use them as part of joyful, play-based literacy experiences.

Suggested Implementation:

  • Introduce one sound at a time, playing the rhyme multiple times across the week

  • Encourage children to listen first, then join in with repeated words or sounds

  • Add simple actions, claps, or body movements to reinforce auditory learning

  • Connect the sound to real-life objects, pictures, or classroom materials

  • Avoid rushing into letter writing; focus on hearing and producing sounds clearly

NEP 2020 Pedagogical Alignment

  • Supports Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) through phonological awareness

  • Follows NEP’s emphasis on play-based, experiential learning in the Foundational Stage

  • Promotes multisensory learning and inclusive classroom practices

  • Encourages language development before decoding and writing, as recommended by NEP

Key Reminder for Educators:
Repetition is intentional. Children may hear the same rhyme many times—this strengthens neural pathways, confidence, and sound recognition.
